Interesting read as usual John. Couldn't help but laugh as one of the thoughts that jumped into my mind was a song made famous by Cher. Gypsies, tramps and thieves! Given our political differences I will say that there are plenty of all of the above roaming those Halls of Congress. Both sides are equally to blame for the state of this country. We can fact check both sides all day long and it will make no difference right now. You can't trust the politicians, or the media! When you have a "convicted felon" and plenty of wannabe felons running around the Capitol it is historic. When you have a President who all of a sudden is deemed to be cognitively impaired (by its own party and the people paying attention to him) after a report made clear he was to "incompetent to stand trial" more than a year ago that is historic also. Then we have the Democrat party preaching fairness, democracy and love to all, who then turns around to circumvent the protocols, in order to pass along the torch to another "entitled assumed winner take all" VP what confidence does that project to the average American? We could banter about "facts" all day long. What is real and apparent to people is the hunger for power, lies, deception, coercion, manipulation, threats, ineptness and lack of transparency, just to name a few. Both sides need to do better. Thank GOD for humor....we all need it living through this madness! Put on some Cher and wait for the next chapter of chaos.

I think I'll do what Greg Allman did, while in the throes of heroin addiction, and pass on Cher. But you're right, a sense of humor is ESSENTIAL in these troubled, divisive times. I WISH the media did better but your man has so skewed the traditional rules of journalism - there has been nobody quite like him in that regard - what DO you do in a debate when he says Democrats are executing babies? Jake Tapper and Dana Bash SHOULD have said, 'WHAAAT?" But didn't. And while I would heartedly agree both sides deserve plenty of blame for where we are, claiming that people shitting in the halls of the Capitol and ripping things up were just "tourists" and "patriots" is a bit much and hard to let slip by. That was WRONG, just like the fake elector's scheme and all that stuff. But let's look ahead. There are plenty of things that I wish would change, including the staggering amount of money spent on these political ads on both sides. Couldn't our roads or schools or hospitals use that money? Or free Botox for high school graduates or paid vacations for retired teachers? (wink). As a writer and old friend, all I can ask from a reader is that they consider what I have to say, whether they agreed with it or not and you certainly have done that. And I truly appreciate that. I have a reading for "Nashua" tomorrow night...this ran on our local NPR today https://news.wfsu.org/wfsu-local-news/2024-07-24/the-journalist-who-was-an-eyewitness-to-the-ascendency-of-ronald-reagan-sees-strong-similarities-in-the-politics-of-donald-trump TRULY appreciated your kind, insightful review on Amazon. Thanks for writing back...

So many great songs back in our day beginning with the Beatles of course! I liked every one of them but I Wanna Hold Your Hand had to be my first really favorite song I'd say. Then the Rolling Stones came along, and I must have sung their song, Satisfaction all year long in the 4th grade. My 4th grade teacher commented on my choice which I will never forget. Unusual choice she said! haha Then along comes Motown and wholla....I about died and went to heaven. Diana Ross and the Supremes ranked right up there with the Beatles and Stones. Baby Love......may all of them live on in our hearts forever. haha

Great. And you know what, they HAVE lived on in our hearts. Don't see that happening with Harry Styles or Bruno Mars, sorry about that, folks...
