I played Led Zeppelin so much in my youth that I couldn't listen to it for decades. I haven't watched the movie yet, but I will soon. I used to have a massive crush on Jimmy Page.
Around '74, Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. I got myself grounded. '78, the Omni. Sold out, listened from outside for a while. Unsurprisingly, unsatisfying.
1995, at last! The Omni again, the No Quarter tour could not have been better.
This is just great John. I saw this in a theater when first released and I was reminded, yet again, how colossal this music is. In truth, LZ I and II, as great as they are, are not my personal favorites. That accolade goes to Presence. But just as you wrote, I too can’t quite say what is so gripping about LZ. I just know it is. Thanks as always.
Excellent....EXCELLENT writeup John! Music, writing and the arts is always so much about passions and feelings that when evoked, can bring out a sense of peace, comfort and gratification in my book. Your interpretation of music greats and their songs along with your craftsmanship of this article particularly is music to my ears! Loved it!!
I loved the way you have passionately wrote this beautiful piece of writing . I could already vision it through my eyes . Quite fascinating to read something so well articulated woven into words . It’s mastery !
Well done John. I wouldn't have watched the movie without your prompt. It was excellent as you noted! Thanks.
Thanks, pal. SABR is great, wish you were here. Appreciate you having John and I on. Was it a hit?
Thanks yourself. Glad SABR 53 is as good as ever. Got over a hundred listens which is better than average so far!
