Drawing on the sentiment of the title's quote, this piece likely reflects on the importance of recognizing and appreciating the simple, good moments in everyday life as they happen. It serves as a really warm and gentle reminder to pause and find contentment 🙂
I stopped, saw an e-mail notification from John's Substack, the guy I like to call Johnny NoGo. Not that he's a no-go at all. In fact, this posting describes just the opposite. Excellent perspective on all the heaviness bearing down, all the tarnished luck, bad news, bad health. Your perspective is the only way to go. Reading this, I could only say at the end, 'if this isn't nice, what is?' Thanks again Johnny.
Although I do fret from time to time, I am grateful as all get out for the life I have and enjoy,….. every single day is a gift and I savor it fully :)
Right on, Nogo! The older I get, the more I try to breathe deep and open my eyes. What was important when we were kids - truth, integrity, dedication to mission - remail important. But instead of running to the next by-line, the next credential or the next assignment, I find myself paying more attention to the birds on the pond behind my house, the way the dog at play in the yard and people in my life. I have no fear of missing out, but at this late date, I don't want to missing anything.
Well, if this essay isn't worth reading, I don't know what is. Great stuff.
"nice" callback : )
Thanks for making me think of Kurt Vonnegut this morning, as I often do.
I like how you wound around to Emerson: “All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.”
