To our knowledge, Bob Dylan has only mentioned Donald Trump once – passing reference in his book Chronicles. As ever, the gnomic wisdom of Dylan is perceptive – he wrote:
“I mean, who’s the last individual performer that you can think of – Elton John, maybe? I’m talking about artists with the willpower not to conform to anybody’s reality but their own. Patsy Cline and Billy Lee Riley. Plato and Socrates, Whitman and Emerson. Slim Harpo and Donald Trump. It’s a lost art form. I don’t know who else does it beside myself, to tell you the truth.”
And watching the sophomoric behavior of the Democrat "opposition", the lyrics of this Dylan classic came to mind:
Come gather 'round people wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin' or you'll sink like a stone
For the times, they are a-changin'
Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide, the chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon for the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who that it's namin'
For the loser now will be later to win
'Cause the times, they are a-changin'
Come senators, congressmen, please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt will be he who has stalled
'Cause the battle outside ragin'
Will soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times, they are a-changin'
Come mothers and fathers throughout the land
And don't criticize what you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly aging
Please get out of the new one if you can't lend your hand
Haha. It’s a funny song. Thanks for the note
Good stuff, John, depressing though, but then that's not your fault, that's just the way things are.
Haha, dueling Dylans
I watched it too, and here are my thoughts:
From The CLASH music magazine website:

The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast
The slowest now will later be fast
As the present now will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin'
And the first one now will later be last
'Cause the times, they are a-changin'
That would be from "The Times They Are A'Changin"
Saw Bob on November 13 in 1999,2002,2006
He performed It’s Alright Ma all 3 nites of November 13th
An’ though the rules of the road have been lodged
It’s only people’s games that you got to dodge
And it’s alright, Ma, I can make it
Listened to “If You’ve Gotta Go, Go Now” because of your post. A new Dylan song (for me)!
